Dr. Filippi is a remote sensing and geographic information processing (GIP) scientist with principal research interests in imaging spectroscopy, ocean and environmental optics, oceanographic remote sensing, geographic information system (GIS)-based modeling and spatial analysis, and data fusion (e.g., involving radar and multi- and hyper-spectral imagery). His research lies at the intersection of remote sensing, GIScience, optical oceanography, and maching learning. He has performed research in both coastal marine and terrestrial optical systems (e.g., coastal wetlands). Dr. Filippi's current research interests focus on algorithm development for inverse remote sensing problems in the littoral ocean and coastal margins.
